Clinique X Red Roses Partnership

Clinique partners with the RFU to support the Red Roses in preparing for a big summer

Clinique has announced its official partnership with the Red Roses, supporting England’s women’s rugby team as they prepare for a landmark summer. This bold move is the first beauty partnership of its kind for the Red Roses, marking the next evolution in Clinique’s commitment to women’s sport. MATTA created the strategy behind the partnership, and brought it to life with a creative platform: Where Great Looking Skin Begins, Confidence Follows. The platform reflects the broader cultural shift where skincare, sport and confidence collide, and is an evolution of previous work.

Building confidence on and off the pitch

This new national partnership builds on the positive impact of GameFace, Clinique’s grassroots movement launched in 2022 in partnership with MATTA, continued with Premiership Women’s Rugby last season, and reflects the brand’s long-standing commitment to supporting young women in rugby – and beyond.

Designed to address the confidence crisis amongst teenage girls and encourage them to step onto the pitch themselves, GameFace has, and continues to, help clubs across the country champion their female players by providing essential funding, equipment and education. And with the Red Roses, that mission grows, extending support to the elite level.

Skincare for high performance

For elite athletes, skincare is more than cosmetic, it’s part of their preparation. Long hours of training outdoors, changing climates and physical exertion, coupled with the stress and pressure of performing at the highest level, can all take a toll on skin.

That’s why Clinique has offered the Red Roses 1:1 consultations with expert consultants, educated in partnership with dermatologists, to create tailored routines from skincare to makeup to support each player’s needs. Just as players have to be consistent with nutrition, recovery and physio to feel prepared in every way, a simple yet effective skincare routine can help them to achieve their best by feeling confident, on and off the pitch.

Furthermore, Clinique and MATTA have worked to bring beauty and sport together in bold, authentic ways, from ambassador content and social storytelling to player-led skincare education and visible matchday presence.

“GameFace has always been about helping women feel confident in their own skin – whether they’re stepping onto the pitch or into everyday life. This new chapter with the Red Roses brings that mission to the elite level, without losing its grassroots soul. We’re proud to help Clinique show up in sport not as an outsider, but as a steadying force for good – backing players with real support and telling stories that reflect the power, resilience and individuality of women’s rugby.”

The future of sponsorship

Clinique’s partnership with the RFU reflects a new model of sponsorship, and evolution of the GameFace initiative, one rooted in emotional connection, shared values, and community. Women’s sport should no longer be a secondary play, it’s where cultural influence is being redefined. And beauty brands, such as Clinique, once seen as outside the stadium, are now part of the story.
