ENGLAND RUGBY AND MATTA LAUNCH 'FOR THE GIRLS'
The England Rugby Women’s team kick off their World Cup in Sunderland on 22nd August and will be aiming to cement their status as the world’s best rugby team with a successful tournament on home soil that inspires the nation.
‘For The Girls’ is a creative campaign developed by MATTA.
Inspired by the voices and spirit of the incredible Red Roses, ‘For the Girls’ builds upon a phrase used by the players themselves that celebrates strength, sisterhood, and solidarity – talking to the pioneers that came before the Red Roses, the players in the here and now and, importantly, with the young girls they will inspire to follow in the future.
It shows the nation this team isn’t just chasing trophies – they are determined to shift perceptions for women & girls. Central to this mission is to shift perceptions and overcome the still-too-common perception that rugby is ‘a game for the boys’. This campaign flips that viewpoint on its head.
‘For the Girls’ celebrates the Red Roses’ legacy, their present position as the world’s number one team, and their power to inspire every woman and girl who finds strength in their journey – including the young girls who will dream of taking a place amid their ranks in years to come.

“We couldn’t be more excited to help create this special moment for women’s sport in England. A home World Cup is always an exciting event, and with this incredible set of talented individuals representing their country. We want ‘For The Girls’ to firmly plant rugby in the nation’s minds as a fun and exciting sport for young girls to get playing. As we’ve seen from working with the wonderful Red Roses over the last few years, the sky really is the limit.”
