The Queens of Tennis Return to Queen's

Marking the historic comeback of women’s tennis at Queen’s

For the first time in over 50 years, women’s tennis is returning to The Queen’s Club. The HSBC Championships, a brand-new WTA 500 tournament, will see the world’s best female players compete on grass in London from 7th-15th June 2025.

MATTA was tasked with creating a campaign to announce the tournament, build excitement, and drive ticket sales. With no previous footage or photography to draw from, the challenge was to make an entirely new event feel established, prestigious, and unmissable.

Bringing a new tournament to life

Research showed that the event had the potential to reach beyond core tennis fans, tapping into the growing audience for women’s sport and the demand for major summer entertainment experiences in London. But without existing visuals, the campaign needed to take a different approach.

MATTA developed ‘The Queens of Tennis Return to Queen’s’, a striking concept that placed elite players at the heart of the capital. Working with Agile Productions and illustrator Chris Rathbone, we recreated Emma Raducanu, Naomi Osaka, and Katie Boulter in a detailed, 3D-rendered London, rallying a ball across the city before landing it in Queen’s Club.

A campaign fit for a flagship event

The campaign, which launched in February 2025, spans TV, Out of Home, social, and digital, ensuring the HSBC Championships stands out as a landmark event in the summer sporting calendar.

By blending high-energy visuals with a powerful narrative, this celebratory campaign turns a brand-new tournament into a must-see moment in British sport.
